John Kolivas won three straight NMRA Drag Radial championships but decided he needed a break after the 2008 season. John and crew wanted to tackle the Outlaw Drag Radial class. After the finals in Bowling Green they started switching the car over to a 427 inch Bennett Racing power plant, a 114 mm turbo and the big 315 Mickey Thompson radials. John is a little outgunned running against big blocks and twin turbos, but he has still been competitive winning the Boost vs No Boost Radial Championship race earlier this year.

I guess Kolivas and team got bored because they swapped heads, turbo, and tires to run the NMRA/NMCA Superbowl race; setting the record and winning the race. As soon as they got home for the race the car came back apart. It was then sent to Wade at Southern Speed for the addition of another turbo. John no longer wants to be down on power compared to the other cars in Outlaw Radial. Wade mounted up the twin 88 mm turbos in no time and sent the car back on its way home.

It will be very interesting to see how quick the car will be now with the added power after seeing what the car ran on a 275 radial and with a single turbo. Other Outlaw Radial cars better watch out!
