We have covered many different contests that give away all sorts of cool performance vehicles. Most of these contests offer one-off, rare, highly desirable collector cars in a raffle format. Plenty of Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros have been given away by many types of car folk, usually towards a good cause. Apparently, Sacred Heart Church has given away many types of Mustangs before, but their raffle this year is for a very rare P-51B Mustang by Roush.

The church even has its own website set up for the contest, at WINASTANG.com

There isn’t much info available about the Sacred Heart Parish, except that it “is a community of Catholic Christians with a mission of making Christ's presence a reality for the good of the world, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to the greater honor and glory of God." How raffling off a rare Mustang falls in line with that mission, I’m not sure. But for just $10 a ticket, it is hard to come up with good reason not to enter this raffle.

The Mustang in question is number 44 of just 51 2009 P-51B Mustangs to be made. With 510 horsepower from the Roushcharger forced induction, this Mustang runs with the plane theme inside and outside of the cockpit. It is a little known fact that the original Mustang derived its name from the World War II-era fighter plane, but the animal theme was seen as a better marketing gimmick. This gimmick by Sacred Heart would have to sell 4000 tickets just to break even, but they have a history of raffling off rare Mustangs. Last year they gave away a Blackjack Convertible, and before that they raffled off a California roadster, both cars also from Roush. I wonder if the eminent car maker has an in with the big guy upstairs?
