Ford Racing has posted some of the first images of the 2010 edition of the FR500CJ “Cobra Jet” at a recent Ford test at Milan Dragway. The 2010 Cobra Jet will not officially be revealed until SEMA in November but from the photos we like the 2010 styling.

From sources at the track, we hear the development car ran several passes in the 9 second zone and was quicker than the 2008 development car. The Cobra Jet that was testing at Milan was in AA/S trim with a Liberty transmission, no word on who was at the wheel driving.

Similar to the 2008 Cobra Jet program, 50 cars will be built for a base price of $77,995.00 with production scheduled to begin in November or December of this year. We imagine all cars are already spoken for but Ford Racing has all the parts available to build your own.

Options for the 2010 Cobra Jet include a Liberty Gears prepped manual transmission or race prepped Ford C4 automatic transmission. The automatic option is priced at $8,995.00.

For racers that want to compete in NHRA’s Super Stock class, Ford Racing has an optional supercharged aluminum block 5.4-liter engine that is rated at 475 horsepower. This option is priced at $15,995.00
