With all the buzz going around the internet about the soon to be released 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet from Ford Racing, we are getting more and more info on how Ford Racing put this car together. One example of this was the fuel system. With the loads of supercharged power that Ford Racing was able to squeeze out of the Modular 5.4 L engine powering these cars, we knew there was something trick about the fuel system for it to keep up with the demands it required. We heard the rumors, but now we have the facts – it is all Aeromotive.

We reported HERE that in resent testing, the CJ stomped the 1320 in the 9s - now we know one reason why.

That’s right Aeromotive, the maker of fuel systems for the sportsman and hardcore racer alike, has partnered with Ford Racing to develop an all new version of their new popular Stealth Fuel System. The Stealth system, which is fuel system where the fuel pump and filter are contained inside the fuel tank or fuel cell, was adapted for use in Ford’s new race car.

“The opportunity to work with Ford Racing is tremendous,” says Aeromotive founder and President, Steve Matusek. “We are truly honored that they selected us to provide the fuel system on these cars. What a privilege. I can’t help but feel this is a testament to what we have worked so hard to accomplish and to the philosophy on which we built this company. We work to build the best products on the market and then we stand behind them to support the racers and customers that use them.”

“We were very pleased with our 2008 Cobra Jets, but for 2010 we knew we had to up the standard for our turn key drag cars. We partnered with the best in the business to come up with a fuel system specifically engineered for drag racing these supercharged, fuel injected motors,” said Brian Wolfe, Director of North American Motorsports at Ford Motor Co. “Aeromotive has done an excellent job and we are proud to have them on our 2010 Cobra Jets.”

The 6-gallon Stealth Fuel Cell pictured above is the heart of this system and was specially designed for use in the Cobra Jet, but uses the same design and advantages available on Aeromotive’s Stealth systems currently out for other popular Mustangs. Inside the cell is their powerful Eliminator fuel pump that is capable of supporting up to 1400 horsepower. Making sure the 2010 Cobra is properly fed with all the fuel it needs.

So what does this mean for the guy with a good ol’ GT? Plenty. Currently Aeromotive offers a 15 and 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell in their Stealth line up, along side the OE tank version. With the development of this kit, we have heard from inside Aeromotive that they are currently working on making this kit equipped in the CJ available for install into any S197 Mustang. That's a 6-gallon fuel cell perfectly sized for drag racing that bolts right in with little modification.
