It is getting to be that time of year when muscle car variants start popping up at motorsports events across the country. Many companies have spent the summer season tweaking and perfecting their cars to showcase to the adoring public this fall. But Roush has already unleashed their 2010 427R Mustang to the public way back in March. So what are they doing at the Motorsports Nationals in Atlanta, GA?

According to Mustangblog, Roush will be flogging the 427R around the track to entertain the masses while offering one lucky winner a chance for a ride along.

The Motorsports Nationals will be held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on the 19th and 20th of September. The Motorsports Nationals brings together imports, hot rods, muscle cars, show cars and big rigs in a two-day exhibition of automobiles. Some of the events will include BMX stunt shows, burnout contests, audio competitions, and 200 classes of trophies. But you’ll find the Roush 427R mostly out on the track in the drifting contest, piloted by driver Ali Aljibouri (video of his drifting skills below).

The Roush 427R is a track-oriented performance Mustang featuring Roush’s patented Roushcharger system. This boosts power to 435 and torque to 400 ft-lbs. Besides the exterior bodykit, the 427R gets a track-tuned suspension, 18” wheels, and a more pleasing appearance under the hood. While many of the mechanicals are a carry over from 2009, under the hood is much cleaner and OEM looking thanks to upgraded materials. It gives the 427R a more refined look. Should be a good time, and if anyone goes, snap some pictures for me!
