The Nurburgring has, in recent years, become the proving ground for cars from the world over. The Corvette ZR-1, Viper ACR, and Nissan GT-R have been battling it out for top honors among supercars…but most affordable vehicles also make their rounds at the ‘ring. Cars like the venerable Focus RS hatchback.

This Youtube video shows one such Focus RS, tuned by Raedar Motorsports, a German sports car tuner, getting around the 13-mile ‘ring in just under 8 minutes, a very impressive achievement.

Now it should be noted this is not a stock Focus RS hatch. While impressive in its own right, with 305 horsepower and 325 ft-lbs of torque cranking out of its 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine, Raedar took it up another notch. They upgraded the dual exhaust system, as well as the turbo down pipe, to pump more air into the engine. The intercooler was upgraded to handle the extra air, as well as the throttle body.

The upgrades to the engine helped the RS produce an extra 40 horsepower and 59 ft-lbs of torque in the light, edgy hatchback. Even though stock RS comes with a limited slip differential, Raedar upgraded the brakes, rotors, and calipers to better handle the 174 corners and 100+ mph straightaways of the Nurburgring. When is Ford going to get the hint and bring the Focus RS over to the states? We can only hope the answer is “soon”.
