When one thinks of the Ford Focus, one does not think of exclusivity. If anything, the Focus smacks of over-saturation, having made it on to at least one driveway in every neighborhood in the US it seems. But over in Europe, they love those hot hatches. They love them so much so that they seem to get a new special edition Focus every few weeks.

According to Autoblog, Switzerland is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Ford’s Euro-only RS division with a limited run of 50 special edition Focus RS WRC editions.

Unlike Ford’s US-only SVT division, which has its roots in the Mustang SVO from the mid-80’s, the Euro-only Rallye Sport Division has existed since 1970. With a focus on rally racing, the RS division has helped create awesome cars, including the Focus RS. With 305 horsepower on tap as well as a well-tuned suspension and rally-inspired interior the Focus RS is something we’ve been secretly hoping for.

The Focus RS WRC package for Swiss customers only focuses on aesthetics, leaving the driveline unchanged. Ford has crowd-sourced several proposals for different livery schemes based on past WRC cars. Blacked-out 19” OZ Superturismo GTs and a special interior plaque are the only other modifications on the other-wise stock RS, and the premium pricing bumps the asking price to over $53,000 in US dollars. For a Focus. Chew on that. Exclusivity has its cost.
