This past weekend was big for both Ken Block and the Ford rallying team. Block took the Ford Fiesta to its first win on American soil at the 100 Acre Wood rally, the second stop on the Rally American tour. That was also Block’s fifth win at the 100 Acre Wood rally in a row. But there are bigger fish to fry.

The second race of the World Rally Championship happens this weekend, and the Monster World Rally Team posted this video of Mr. Block getting behind the wheel of the WRC Focus.

This first test was Block’s first time driving the WRC Focus. In the middle of February, as can be expected in England, a heavy snowfall cut his training day short. It was Block’s only chance behind the wheel of the Focus before it was shipped to Mexico for the Rally Mexico race, which happens this weekend. The route was recently redesigned, and covers more than 850 kilometers (about 528 miles).

The Focus rally car has a lot in common with its smaller Fiesta sibling, like all-wheel drive, a 300 horsepower 4-cylinder engine, and it was also built by M-Sport. Since the Focus rally car was introduced in 1999, it has built up an impressive resume, with 36 WRC wins to its credit. While Block has called 2010 a “developmental” year, we still expect great things out of him come this weekend, where he will be facing off against some of the best rally drivers in the world.
