2011 King of the Street Competition

Put on by 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords magazine and sponsored by AmericanMuscle.com, the annual King of the Street competition pits some of the world’s fastest street-driven Mustangs against one another in a head-to-head competition. This year the event was held at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY during the NMRA World Finals, where each of the Mustangs was put through a battery of tests including drag racing, dyno testing, and, of course, driving on the street.

The nine contenders for this year’s competition ranged from supercharged and turbocharged 2011 Mustangs to twin-turbo SVT Cobras to modified Shelby GT500s. As always, the competition was fierce, with many of the Mustangs capable of running 10 second 1/4 mile runs and one car even breaking into the 9s. You can learn more about the cars and watch some of the drag racing action in the video below, and for the full results be sure to check out the May 2012 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords.
