2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302R

The 2012 Grand-Am racing season officially kicked off this weekend with the January test days at Daytona Speedway. Nearly a dozen Mustangs were in attendance, all scheduled to compete in the GS class of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Many of the big names are back again for 2012, including Jack Roush Jr. and Billy Johnson of the No. 61 Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R who finished a close second in the championship after earning six podium finishes and three wins. The team did well during this weekend’s practice session, finishing second overall in the first test session yesterday and first in the session this morning.

In addition to the Roush Performance team, several of the other Mustang teams in attendance included perennial contenders of Rehagen Racing and Multimatic Motorsports, as well as Boss 302Rs fielded by Starworks Motorsports, BTE Sport, Miller Racing and Jim Click Racing.

The first race of the 2012 Grand-Am season is at Daytona Speedway from January 26-27.
