It’s getting harder to find classic cars tucked away in barns or deserted in a back lots, but determined collectors are still occasionally making incredible discoveries. One found recently is this 1967 Shelby GT500 that has been sitting outside in the desert in Death Valley, CA for the last 25 years. The car is still in fairly good condition considering what it’s been through, although the exterior, particularly the paint (or lack thereof) on the fiberglass panels, is worse for wear. BangShift.com, who went to go see the car at …

The Boss 302 has taken much of the accolades for the Mustang family this past year, garnering awards from MotorWeek, Hagerty, Cars.com, Autobytel.com, Ward’s, Car & Driver and Automobile Magazine. The standard Mustang hasn’t been forgotten though. Today the Mustang GT was named by Consumer Reports as one of their ten top picks, winning the top spot in the sporty car category for the second straight year. Here’s what Consumer Reports had to say about the 2012 Mustang GT:
The heart of this iconic sports car has always been its strong …

For Sale: 1969 Ford Mustang Pro-Touring

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

We don’t normally feature cars for sale, but this Pro-Touring 1969 Ford Mustang is too much to pass up. Built by RK Motors of Charlotte, NC, this classic Mustang was completely stripped down to the frame and then reassembled to perfection with laser straight body lines and custom pieces like the functional hood scoop, an SCCA-style front spoiler and rear window louvers. Under the hood is a 557 cubic inch V8 from John Kaase Racing Engines that produces an incredible 800 horsepower and 750 lb-ft torque. All of that power …

In advance of being shown nationally during the Daytona 500 on Feb. 26, Ford is offering a sneak peek of the “Mustang Inner TV” ad on YouTube and on the Mustang Facebook page. The new commercial doesn’t promote the Mustang’s new, aggressive design or the 420 horsepower V8, but instead depicts the ability for customers personalize the Mustang for their own taste.
“We know that Mustang owners are incredibly passionate about their car,” said Matt VanDyke, director of U.S. Marketing Communications. “Rather than just show features and …

Ford hasn’t allowed any media outlets to drive the 2013 Shelby GT500 quite yet, but the guys over at Car & Driver have come closer than most. SVT recently invited the magazine out to Ford’s Dearborn Proving Grounds to ride shotgun in the new Shelby, and C&D has just published a report on their web site.
While Car and Driver’s impressions of the new GT500 were fairly limited, they did praise the handling despite the test car wearing performance-limiting winter tires.”The suspension does a remarkable job of keeping the tires planted …

Kenny Brown Performance recently released their performance chassis and suspension catalog for 1979-2013 Mustangs.  The new 2012 catalog is packed full with Kenny’s newest arsenal of products for the S197 Mustang, including his critically-acclaimed AGS 4.0 Suspension System.  You’ll also find a host of good stuff that has been reintroduced and is now back in production for the older 1979-2004 Mustang and SVT Cobra.
According to Brown, “we’re really excited to have our first new print and digital catalog in more than five years, but we’re even more excited about our …

Deans Performance of St. Charles, IL is the self-proclaimed “Home of the Quickest Cobras in Chicagoland,” but don’t take their word for it. The shop recently had one of their customer’s cars, a 2003 SVT Cobra Convertible fitted with a pair of twin 58mm Precision turbos, on the dyno, and the numbers speak for the company’s performance credentials.
With the SVT Cobra strapped securely into the dyno, Deans Performance got the rear tires spinning for an initial run and netted a respectable 748 horsepower and 623 lb-ft torque @ 14 psi. …

With the current Boss 302 being the most track-capable Mustang ever produced, it’s doubtful that many people consider it a practical car. For a sports car, though, the Boss 302 makes for a better daily driver than most. Unlike many vehicles with similar performance capabilities the Boss 302 actually has fairly usable rear seats that can easily fit children and even full size adults on short trips.
But what about those with infants and toddlers? Can the Boss 302 fit a child seat as well as it can lap Laguna Seca? …

For the last few years Creations n’ Chrome has had the philosophy of ‘Go Big or Go Home’ at SEMA with their chrome-clad Mustangs. Their first project, “Pony Girl”, was definitely an eye-catcher, and last year’s “Boy Racer” was even more impressive. Now the folks at CnC are already cooking up their next Mustang for this year’s SEMA and have given us an exclusive first look at the car.
While the company’s first two projects were S197 Mustangs, Creations n’ Chrome will be going back more than two decades for this …
