2013 Ford Mustang

Ford released their monthly sales numbers today, and the news isn’t good for the Mustang. Dealers managed to move just 4,439 Mustangs off their lots, a 12.2 percent decrease compared to the 5,054 units sold in September of last year. The number represents the lowest amount of Mustangs sold since January of 2012 when Ford managed to sell just 3,736 units.  Granted, Mustang sales typically slow down in the last half of the year, but September marked the first time in five months that sales were less than in the same month in 2011.

On a positive note Ford Mustang sales in 2012 remain significantly up compare to 2011, 66,821 compared to 56,618, an 18 percent increase.

Overall Ford sales in September remained relatively flat, although retail sales were up four percent compared to last year. Small cars posted the most gains, having their best month since 2002 with a 73 percent increase compared to last year. The Escape also had its best September ever, and the F-Series marked its 14th consecutive increase in sales with its best September since 2007.
