Need for Speed movie trailer.

With Getaway, which features a Shelby GT500 Super Snake, still struggling in theaters, comes the first trailer for Mustang’s next adrenaline-infused movie: Need for Speed. Based on the popular video game series, Need for Speed stars Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) as an ex-con street racer with a price on his head, hellbent on payback as he enters a cross-country race against the most exotic supercars in the world.

We’ve already told you about the movie and shown you the Mustang, so let’s get to the goods…

Need for Speed, which also stars Dakota Johnson (Ben and Kate) and Michael Keaton (Batman), comes out on March 14, 2014 and has not yet been rated. Its budget is $75,000,000.

To date, Getaway has made $10,438,586 against its $18,000,000 budget and has a horrific 3% rating on RottenTomatoes.com. Here’s to hoping NFS outperforms it.

2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake performance package

Shelby American has announced they will donate and install a 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake performance package to be auctioned off during the 40th Anniversary of the famous Cattle Baron’s Ball to raise funds for cancer research through the American Cancer Society. This year’s highly-anticipated and extravagant Cattle Baron’s Ball will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the legendary Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas, just north of Dallas.

“Supporting philanthropies is a core value that Carroll ingrained into Shelby American’s DNA over the past five decades,” said John Luft, president of Shelby American. “Since one of this year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball co-chairs, Brooke Shelby, is the wife of Carroll’s eldest grandson, Aaron, the event is a perfect opportunity to leverage a new Shelby GT500 Super Snake to raise funds for cancer research.”

Over the past 40 years, through ticket sales and auction items, the western-themed Cattle Baron’s Ball has raised more than $50 million; it has grown to be the largest single-night fundraiser for cancer research.

This year’s ball is expected to see 3,500 socialites flock to the 300 acre grand Texas ranch for an evening of mouthwatering fare, western dancing, carnival games and serenity under the stars. More entertainment will include a Ferris wheel ride, live auction, refreshment bars and a performance by the Rascal Flatts.

The most lucrative and anticipated live auction item of the ball is the 662 horsepower 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake. To make this possible, North Texas Ford Dealers provided the Shelby GT500 base car that attendees will compete for during the live auction. The winning bidder will then get to customize the styling of their new Super Snake package and have it built to spec, courtesy of Shelby American in support of the Cattle Baron’s Ball fight against cancer.

“Our goal is to put cancer in the rearview mirror,” said Brooke Shelby. “Auctioning the 2014 Shelby GT500 coupe with Shelby American’s Super Snake upgrade package will help us accelerate our cancer research. Auto enthusiasts will realize that this is an amazing opportunity to be able to bid on this iconic car.”

At midnight, the Rascal Flatts will wrap up their performance and a Texas style breakfast will be served, but only to refuel the fire for the rest of the night. The after-party band will take to the Live Auction stage in the Saloon Tent after midnight and will have the party people going until 2 a.m.

Galpin Ford’s car show 2013

When you hear of a local Ford dealership putting on a car show, you might imagine a few dozen customer cars that are mostly stock and maybe a few classic Mustangs – maybe even a Shelby or two. But Galpin Ford is no ordinary dealership. In fact, they’re the largest volume Ford dealership in the world more than twenty years running and sell more Mustangs than anyone. So when Galpin puts on a car show, expect big things.

Galpin’s first car show was put on to celebrate Shelby’s 50th anniversary last year, and the result was the largest gathering of Shelby Mustangs we had ever seen. This past weekend’s encore was no less impressive, with the show celebrating 60 years of customizing at the dealership. Many of Galpin’s highly modified SEMA show cars were on hand, from the 1969 Mustang Fastback actually constructed at the show to the supercharged widebody Mustang Boss 302-X. Of course, dozens of customer cars also showed up to fill up the dealerships’ parking lots.

Galpin also opened the doors to their private collection of custom cars and hot rods, showcasing vehicles built by famous names such as Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, Von Dutch and George Barris. A few Mustangs were on display as well, including the all original 1965 Shelby GT350 “Barn Find” and the wild 1969 Mustang Mach IV dragster that Galpin sponsored back in the 1970s.

2015 Ford Mustang Rendering

2015 Ford Mustang Rendering

With the publication of each spy photo we get a better idea of how the 2015 Ford Mustang will look when it makes its debut in a few months. Charles Cronley, or chazcron as he’s known on various Mustang message forums, has pieced those spy shots together to create this illustration and a 360 degree walkaround you see here.

While some of the exterior details are still unknown, this is likely the most accurate rendering of the next-generation Mustang anyone has created so far. And we can vouch for Charles’ accuracy. He used spy shots and JPG versions of three CAD files to render the 2005 Mustang before its debut, and he completely was spot-on. He even had it rapid-prototyped into a 3D model of the car.

Besides the spy photos, Charles has taken guidance from “a couple of people” who have seen the next generation Mustang in person who say there is no C-scoop or “hockey stick” on the side of the car. Insiders also indicate that Ford is “still toying with four or five hood scoops and several headlight assemblies.” At this point no one has indicated that anything is incorrect, but Charles concedes that the quarter window may need a little tweaking, and we’re eager to see how the taillights and rear valence will look.
