The Mustang Cobra Jet or NASCAR might come to mind when you think of Ford Racing, but the last few years the motorsports arm of the Blue Oval has been heavily involved in rally racing …

While we typically think of the manual transmission as the preferred choice for performance enthusiasts, the vast majority of drag racers use automatic transmissions. It might be more fun to row your own gears, but …

Last week we told you about the guys over at JPC Racing setting a new quarter mile record for the 2011+ Mustang 5.0 with an 8.02 second pass at 170 mph at the NMRA Finals …

We’ve been following JPC Racing‘s 2011 Ford Mustang shop car for more than three years now. Back in 2010 the car was running quarter mile times of just under 11 seconds, an impressive number given …

Last month Evolution Performance set a new benchmark by being the first to run 8s in the 2013+ Shelby GT500, and now the boys from Aston, PA at it again by setting a new record for the world’s fastest 2011+ Mustang 5.0 nicknamed the Green Goblin. The deed was done at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH this past weekend as part of the McLeod Racing NMRA Ford Nationals where Evolution Performance were competing in the 5.0L Mustang shootout, a class pitting the world’s fastest 2011+ Coyote-powered Mustangs against one …

We’ve showed you some pretty spectacular bumper-dragging, fender-crunching, frame-smashing wheelstands before, but this latest one takes the cake as perhaps the most impressive ever. The feat was performed by Jere Etheridge in his twin-turbo 2000 Ford Mustang, who was competing at the “Lights Out 4″ drag race at the South Georgia Motorsports Park this past weekend. The run seemed to start smooth enough, with Etheridge launching cleanly off the line. Partially down the track, however, the nose starts to lift. For a brief second the front tires come back to …

Taking a look back at the articles we’ve written about Lethal Performance, it’s easy to see the Wellington, FL-based shop is very good at doing one thing – making Mustangs go very, very fast. We’ve showed you videos of their 2010 Shelby GT500 running a 9 second 1/4 mile to the first Boss 302 in the 10s. Their latest project is just as impressive, with Lethal Performance laying claim to the world’s fastest 2013 Shelby GT500. After fitting swapping out the car’s stock supercharger with a massive Whipple 4.0L blower …

We’ve shown you lots of videos of the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet making passes down the drag strip, and for the most part they’ve been all about good things like winning races or setting new records. This latest video, however, does not end well. If you’re not sure if you can watch a brand new $100,000 Mustang get smashed up, then look away now.
The video actually starts out positive. The driver of a brand new 2013 Mustang Cobra Jet, making a pass at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Maryland, …

The last time we checked in on this twin-turbo 2011 Mustang project being built in cooperation with Ken Bjonnes, Jon Lund and Jake Long, the car was making nearly 800 rear wheel horsepower on the dyno. Since then the trio have improved the car further, pushing the car to 955 rwhp and 867 rwtq from 21 psi. Everything is held together thanks to a longblock from L&M Engines and a Circle D torque converter, although amazingly the stock transmission and rear end are still in place.
With the car making nearly …
