Galpin Auto Sports has become synonymous with widebody Mustangs for the last couple years, building wild and aggressive looking cars like the 1000 horsepower Shelby GT500 Super Snake and Boss 302-X that debuted at SEMA last year. Now we’ve got a sneak peek of their latest widebody creation, with the company displaying a custom Shelby GT500 at the Barrett-Jackson Orange County auction this past weekend.
At first glance this Mustang looks a lot like Galpin’s other widebody creations, with the exception of the retro Pearl White paint and blue stripes, but …

You might recognize this custom Mustang as it debuted at the 2009 SEMA Show. Built by Galpin Auto Sports, the 2010 Mustang convertible features a hand-built metal widebody kit that adds six inches to the width of the car, a custom PPG two-tone paint job, Forgiato wheels, unique leather seats and a 900 watt JL audio system. The car isn’t all about looks, though. Under the hood is a Ford Racing supercharger system good for 550 horsepower, and additional performance items include Wilwood brakes, a Ford Racing suspension handling pack, …

Ford’s reveal of the 2013 Mustang came back in November at the L.A. Auto Show, and for those interested in purchasing the car it’s been a long four and a half months. The wait is finally over, though, as the 2013 Mustang finally started to arrive at Ford dealerships around the country this past week. We had our first 2013 Mustang sighting out at Galpin Ford in Van Nuys, CA earlier today, where the dealership had just received its first shipment of cars. There were around a dozen 2013 Mustangs …

Galpin Auto Sports has built quite a few widebody Mustangs over the last couple of years, starting with the Shelby GT500 that debuted at SEMA in 2010. Since then they’ve debuted more widebody Mustangs at SEMA including the Boss 302-X and a one-off Shelby GT500 Super Snake, and they also worked with specialty manufacturer SPX to create a custom Mustang inspired by the Boss 429 that was auctioned off for charity at Barrett-Jackson earlier this year. Each car has been impressive in its own way, but they all have one …

The numbers are in, and Galpin Ford of Van Nuys, CA had laid claim to the highest volume Ford Mustang dealership in the country for 2011. Normally Galpin’s customizing shop, Galpin Auto Sports, is the one in the news, but the legendary Ford dealership also plays a major part in the Mustang industry. This past year Galpin sold a total of 663 Mustangs, which far exceeded the next closest dealership who managed to move just 269 Mustangs.
Galpin didn’t just lead the country in Mustang sales, though. They managed to hold …

We’ve been following the progress of this Galpin Widebody Mustang since it was first announced back in August. We were able to bring you the first live images of the car just after its completion at Galpin Auto Sports’ shop in Southern California, and now we can bring you photos of the car straight from the auction block at Barrett-Jackson. SPX, the company who hired Galpin to build the Mustang, sold the car tonight in Scottsdale to the highest bidder, with the final price eventually reaching $160,000. This wasn’t for …

We’ve seen plenty of custom Mustangs over the years, but one of the most fascinating is this 2011 convertible you see here. Built by Galpin Auto Sports, this bright orange Mustang made its debut at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and while the bright orange paint job might be the first thing you notice, a closer look reveals its most interesting feature – a retractable convertible hardtop. Obviously, Ford doesn’t produce or sell a convertible hardtop Mustang, so to see one with an OEM look is pretty intriguing.
While …

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

We’ve been following the progress of this custom Mustang Boss 302 since we first saw it under construction at Galpin Auto Sports, and now it’s finally been unveiled at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. So what’s so special about this Boss 302? For starters, Galpin has given it their trademark widebody treatment, adding an incredible nine inches to the width of the car via hand-made steel body panels. The exterior is finished off with a one-off PPG matte orange pearl paint, painted black Boss 302 graphics and specially made …

SEMA 2011: Shelby GT500 Super Snake Widebody

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Earlier this week we showed you a preview of this very special Shelby GT500 Super Snake while it was still under construction at Galpin Auto Sports. The car is now  finished and is on center stage at  Galpin’s display here at the 2011 SEMA Show.
In addition to the standard features of the Super Snake, this particular car has been fitted with one of Galpin Auto Sport’s custom made widebody kits, adding no less than nine inches of width and fitting massive Pirelli front and rear tires in the wheel wells, …

Last week we showed you the widebody 2012 Mustang Boss 302 built by Galpin Auto Sports, but it’s not the only Mustang that they will be displaying at the 2011 SEMA Show. The GAS team has also been busy building this widebody Shelby GT500 Super Snake, which we caught still under construction at their shop in Van Nuys, CA.
The one-off Super Snake features Galpin’s hand-made steel body panels, lightweight three-piece aluminum wheels with Super Snake center caps. Making the car all the more impressive is that the 5.4-liter V8 produces …
