Shelby has been working their legendary magic on the GT500 since its modern reintroduction, first offering a 650 horsepower Super Snake package in 2007 and ramping up the performance nearly every year since. In 2011 …

Shelby first announced a widebody kit for the 2005-2009 Mustang back in December, and a similar package for the 2010+ Mustang a month later at the Detroit Auto Show in the form of an 850 horsepower GT500 Super Snake. At the time we asked company representatives if the widebody kit would be available for the Shelby 1000, and the answer was a resounding yes. In fact, they told us that one was already under production.
Fast forward a few months and the first production widebody Shelby 1000 is making its debut …

2013 Shelby 1000 officially revealed in NY

Thursday, March 28th, 2013

Last year Shelby made a huge splash at the New York Auto Show, introducing its most powerful Mustang yet, the Shelby 1000. Fast forward one year and the company is back again in the Big Apple, this time with an updated version of the car using the 2013 Shelby GT500 as a base. With the larger displacement 5.8-liter engine, the new 1000 packs even more of a punch and produces up to 1,200 horsepower on pump gas in S/C trim.
As expected, Shelby has modified nearly all of the mechanicals  of …

Shelby has announced that they will introduce the 2013 version of the most powerful production, street legal muscle car in the world on March 28, 2013, at the New York International Auto Show. The company will have on display its 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C version with 1,200 horsepower, which is based on the Ford Shelby GT500. Beginning with Ford’s new massive 5.8L V8 power plant, the 2013 Shelby 1000 puts unprecedented horsepower to the pavement, while running on pump gas.
“The 2012 Shelby 1000 was launched to great acclaim at the …

We’ve already shown you plenty of photos and videos of the 2012 Shelby 1000, which made its debut at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, but with the supercharged V8 producing up to 1,100 horsepower it’s definitely a car that deserves a second look. Or third. Or fourth.
The car pictured here, sporting Kona Blue paint and bare aluminum wheels, is the same exact one that debuted in New York and was on display in the Wilwood booth at SEMA. Under the hood is the aforementioned supercharged 5.4-liter V8 …

A few months ago we showed you the first footage of the Shelby 1000 in action, with the car making several runs up and down the drag strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. While the clips were good for seeing just how quickly Shelby’s most powerful Mustang ever could melt off its tires, though, it didn’t exactly have a lot of production value.
Not so with this latest video, a three minute commercial for the David Yurman Revolution Shelby 1000 watch (or timepiece, if you want to get fancy) that we …

Remember that Sterling Gray Shelby 1000 that we saw on display at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Orange County last month? Well it’s back, this time at the drag strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where Shelby was doing passes to get video and sound clips of the car. According to Shelby the car is an S/C version, which means the modified supercharged 5.4-liter V8 is producing more than 1,100 horsepower. Unfortunately it looks like they weren’t recording any times, although we’d love to know what the beast could do …

The 2012 Shelby 1000 debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year as the most powerful Mustang ever built by the legendary company with 950 horsepower in standard trim and 1,100 horsepower available for the track-only S/C version. The car also features numerous performance upgrades including a full suspension upgrade, larger brakes, a 9-inch rear end and carbon fiber driveshaft.
Since then Shelby gave us a sneak preview of the 1000 beginning production at the company’s facility in Las Vegas, but we haven’t seen any photos of completed cars. …
