Though the term ‘pony car’ may sound a little strange and not so endearing to most sports car enthusiasts, the Mustang has worn the title with pride for many generations. The only surviving true pony car descendants, Mustangs remain designed for sporty atmospherics, enviable power compared to typical passenger cars, and more. Unfortunately, the Mustang [...]

It’s not too often original Shelby GT500′s come up for auction in Australia but that is just what happened in October at the Shannons Motorclassica Collector Vehicle Auction in Melbourne. The car in question was 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in Nightmist Blue with White Le Mans stripes and Black Deluxe interior. The car is [...]

Take a really good look at these photos. Yes, it is a Ford Mustang station wagon and doesn’t look quite good. This is not a factory wagon as Ford never produced any and so many custom builders produced their own including this example from eBay Jalopnik.com explains. “The story goes that in 1966 Italian coach [...]

Earlier this month the Classic Recreations team ventured to the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas to make good on an announcement owner Jason Engel made a year before at the same event. In 2009 Jason announced plans to work with Shelby American on the first series of officially licensed 1967 Shelby Mustang continuation cars. [...]

Shelby Shifter Installation

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

Shelby GT500 ShifterWhen we got our new 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 project car (full story) we were sorely disappointed in the car’s shifter feel.  It was by far the worst stock shifter we had ever used on a Mustang.  Each shift drained the enjoyment normally found when driving a new car.  Something had to be done quickly.

Unsure of whether or not it would fit our 2011 we went ahead and ordered Shelby’s 6-Speed Shifter.  (Fortunately this unit will fit on a 2011, despite being labeled at the time of publication of this article with an application from 2007-2010.)

2012 Boss 302Ford has released the final specs on the 2012 Boss 302, and the numbers are good.  The 2012 Boss 302 Mustang makes the most horsepower ever to be offered in a naturally aspirated version; 444 horsepower to be exact.

The Boss 302 is the most track capable Mustang ever produced by Ford and Team Mustang.  But unlike previous track-only offerings like the 1993, 1995 and 2000 Cobra R’s the Boss 302 is not a one-trick pony.  Ford’s revolutionary TracKey technology the 2012 Boss 302 is now able to have a track calibration that provides a loping idle and over 200 other changes to the engine calibration.  Simply use a special ignition key to unleash the Boss 302’s maximum potential.  Starting the car with the other key, puts the car back to stock.

Late last month good friend Adam, who you may remember from my previous post, attended the annual Mustang owners of Australia Victorian show at the Dandenong Show Grounds. Also known as the Melbourne Mustang Show. Over 450 Mustangs in one place made for quite a day. Which included 15 original Shelby’s and one of the [...]

It seems golfer Aaron Baddeley is a Mustang fan and he now has his own custom restomod, complete with his nickname in the paint to prove it.
Aaron’s dad Ron Baddeley project managed the resto with help from the team at Slamed Creations, taking inspiration from the movie, Gone in Sixty Seconds, to build a one-of-a-kind [...]

Well these kinds of stories never cease to amaze me. Restorers getting in over their heads and taking orders they cannot deliver on. This is alleged to be the case with Fayetteville car restoration company, Classic Chassis.
Several customers have filed complaints stating the car-restoration business has taken their money without completing the work on their [...]

So I’ve not caught any of the Twilight, Vampire, True Blood or whatever those movies are but I’ve seen all the coverage they have been getting. Not my type of thing, though it has made this site for one reason only. Twilight star Cam Gigandet seems to have himself and Eleanor restomod
Far from recent news [...]

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Review

Monday, October 18th, 2010

2011 Ford Shelby GT500To the untrained eye the 2011 Ford SVT Shelby GT-500 looks just like the 2010 Shelby GT-500.  To see the difference you need a few things: a dyno, a scale, a lift but most of all a stopwatch – if you only have the latter, that will be enough.  When you open the hood, the only visual difference is that the 2011 does away with the 2010′s black supercharger and utilizes a natural finish.  The new aluminum block is only visible from underneath and you’ll need a decent scale to find the 2011′s weight loss.

What you’ll really notice is the reduction in 0-60 times from 4.3 to 4.1 seconds and quarter mile times from 12.7 to 12.4 @ 117 MPH.  With a weight savings of over 100 pounds off the nose of the car, the balance is better, resulting in dramatically improving handling.  2010 GT500 coupe weight was 3,924# with 58% of that mass up front and 42% in the rear.  The 2011 GT500 improves upon this by tipping the scales at 3,820# with only 56% of that weight up front.
