We first saw Johnny Sparks’ Reversion Mustang at SEMA back in 2011, and the hand-built creation was one of our favorite cars of the show. The then-23-year-old had not only managed the difficult task of taking a 2011 Ford Mustang and clad it with a mix of 1968 and 1969 body panels, but he did it well. Since then the car has gone on a national tour and been in magazines and television shows, all leading up to its sale at Barrett-Jackson.

One of the highlights of last year’s SEMA show was the spectacularly retro “Reversion” Mustang built by Johnny Sparks. The 23-year-old took a standard 2011 Mustang GT and fitted it with hand-fabricated body panels from 1968 and 1969 Mustangs, then finished it off with a coat of matte red paint.

Of all the Mustangs at SEMA, the one we were most excited to see in person was this custom 2011 Mustang built by John Heermann. We’ve seen modern Mustangs converted to to a vintage look before, but what makes this particular car special is that 23-year-old Heermann, whose nickname is Johnny Sparks, built the car completely by himself.
